Another busy weekend for Rapid Remapping. Having worked my magic on some interesting vehicles at the beginning of the week. I had the honour of working my remapping magic on these 3 awesome cars, each one was different type of tuning, all with the same strong performance tunes, with unmatched reliability developed into each tune.
With an early start of 8.30 a 2008 Volvo D5 185bhp, these are one of my most favourite cars, the D5 is an awesome engine, reliable, powerful and has loads of torque. The customer wanted more of everything, so a performance tune was in order.
With this Volvo, they have hidden the ECU under the panel, under the wipers.
I had to remove ECU because to stop people like me tuning the ecu, they remove the K-Line lead from the ECU, so I carefully and expertly drilled a small hole in the main ECU wiring block and insert my probe to connect the ecu, then connected the power and started reading off the software to make changes to it, re-installed the software, checked the make sure the car ran as sweetly as before.
Rebuild the wiper panel and tuck the ecu back in to bed, after a quick roadtest the client was more than happy with the additional 40bhp (wa 185bhp now 225bhp) and increased torque of 85nm over standard, after a few tanks of diesel the MPG should show an increase of around 8-12mpg depending on his driving style.
Next I was off to Bulford/Tidworth Barrack’s the place where heroes are trained and developed (having a father in the Royal Marines, and have spent many years as Royal Marine Youth Cadet), I have so much respect for the armed forces and makes me think of the one who havent come home.
This Lance Corporal wanted his Seat Ibiza FR, to keep up the the Cupra’s around the area so starting off the 150bhp, this was a simpler to read and write, straight through the OBD Port. So with a Performance Tune requested it gain an increase of 30bhp and 60nm of torque. 180bhp from a 1.4 TSi engine.
Next was a Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTi these are the trickiest to read, due to the anti tune software installed on these means you have access the ECU board, and probe straight on to it. But due to a technical issue it wouldn’t read off, time for some diagnostics and email to technical but alas they were closed. So sealed it up and come back another day with the problem fix and to give it another go.
We all know Hardware and Laptops mess around sometimes.
